Three apps are not even close. Xiaomi 18 Fold can do 6 apps AND a floating app on top AND each of them on different widths if you need.

I actually have this phone and it's just a setting to change it so it keeps the cover screen on after folding the inner screen. I guess it's a preference more than a problem as some may want to pocket the phone immediately after folding it. Personally I'd like to switch between inner and outer screens so I keep it on!

@mkbhd hey man so on the Samsung Galaxy Z fold 8 ultra, you can go to settings-->display-->Continue apps on outside screen-->set to always, and it will do something similar to the Apple Duo. It's not as smooth but it works and will allow you to continue your apps on the front screen to the main and from the main to the front.

i'm android user for life, i'll die on this hill but i won't deny the fact that xiaomi, samsung or other brands wouldn't do this form factor if not for apple releasing iphone duo. announcing it first dont mean shit, everyone knew when will apple officially announce theirs. also, even us knew what the apple's foldable is going to look like few months earlier. i'm sure other brands knew much earlier than we did.

It's just sad that nobody is defending the Xiaomi. Even though it is most likely that the Xiaomi has taken the design from Apple, if the same could be true that the Apple could have taken, even though Xiaomi always copy Apple. If the Xiaomi has released the product first, then the copy tag shouldn't apply to them. Even though Apple released later, I am not saying Apple copied Xiaomi.

I will not be surprised if it does not take long at all. I played with Stage Manager on my 15pm last year when the exploit to effectively convert to iPadOS was discovered, so it is almost definitely just a toggle that they can add whenever. And like on iPad, it would be a control center toggle.

this is an entirely useless feature that .000001% of people would ever find useful. Just like 90% of other Android features the iPhone "can’t" do; why do you need the weather and music and this and that and the other thing. It’s cluttered and impractical, the antithesis of Apple’s design language.

the 1/1.255” sensor in the iPhone 17e is larger than the 1/1.56” sensor in the Xiaomi. It is deliberately confusing, but that’s how fractions work. 1/1.255″ ≈ 10.2 × 7.7 mm 1/1.56″ ≈ 8.2 × 6.1 mm

Correct iPhone Duo camera specs FYI Main 1x: 1/1.56” 48MP Ultrawide 0.5x: 1/2.55” 48MP AKA identical to base iPhone 17

The Duo can actually disable the inner display and switch all the camera UI to the outer display if you want to use the back-facing cameras for selfies. When the Duo modes are off (Duo Preview or Kid Cue) and you flip the phone around, the outer display is black except for a home indicator bar at the bottom. If you swipe up on it, it invokes the camera UI to that screen. Mr Mobile actually responded to me on Threads about this and said even Apple didn’t have a response when he asked them about it. However, other reviewers have shown this working in their videos. One of them was Brian Tong I think

what people have against heavy phones? Most of my friends love their phones heavy because it feels premium and not like a cheap toy. I have the s22, but i put a good case on it and it became heavier and better to feel in your hand. I dont know why marquez doesnt like heavy phones though.

Calling it just substantial and heavy is such a puppet words. The other phones would have literally been roasted for being that heavy, that this much weight is just unbearable and other folds are so much better. You are such a puppet, it's just sad. Even the Z Fold 5, the Pixel Fold were bashed for their weight that they are so heavy for their counterpart.

there is an option to 'continue on front screen' in the settings on Android

I have a Pixel 11 pro fold and I can close my phone and continue using the front screen without having to swipe up or anything and it'll continue on the same screen/app I was using. You might need to swipe by default when you get it out of the box, but just go into settings and change that feature 🤷‍♂️

I barely have the attention span to focus on two apps at once

everyone is always asking for 6 windows open at a time and every "demo" they have its just the weather app and calculator open. No one has real use cases for multitasking on phones and certainly no one wants to use an app thats squished in size. If your workflow is so intense you need more than 2 fullscreen apps open at a time then maybe youre using the wrong device.

again this might be me but when i want to use the outer screen on my fold 8 camera, the inner display doesnt turn off by default so i can use both sides for seeing what im shooting.
